YARN ATTACK!

2 weeks ago we went to Walmart to get some stuffs & as usual I had to walk pass the yarns section to check it out, every time I go to Walmart, I have to go there even if I’m not buying any yarn or I’ll feel…. deprived lol, yarn addiction I guess but at least it’s a healthy one lol. Well, today it paid off, Caron Simply Soft Eco went on sales from $3.49 to $1! I was like BUY BUY BUY! & got myself 15 of them, all different colors except for a handful which I got 2 of each, probly a bad move coz when I grabbed it I wasn’t really thinking about what I’m gona do with them & getting ball of each color means no big projects but at least I can have some fairly decent yarn other then the scratchy ones I stupidly bought a lot of when I just started knitting, which means more comfy garment for Arieanna! YAY! lol. Well if I wasn’t on such tight budget I would have grabbed everything on the shelve so let’s hope there’s still some left for me to grab when hubby gets paid, poor hubby lol.
FOs TIME! Yup finally got to it, they are not newly finished, probly finished them months ago but I like to share the pain & glory hahaha.

This is 1 of my favorite, absolutely love the color & design but hate the yarn. This was 1 of my 1st big project & at that time I don’t know anything about good yarn vs. bad yarn, I just thought wow cheap yarn, buy! I made it with Red Heart Super Saver 100% acrylic, while I was making it I already felt that the yarn seems kinda scratchy, but didn’t really think much of it, when I finished the body & put it on Arieanna, it doesn’t seems to bother her either so I figured I’ll keep going.
BTW the sleeves are not uneven, I just fold it in so that it fits her better coz I made it longer to make sure it’ll last her for awhile. The pattern called for ribbed sleeves but I don’t like the way it looks on the model so I adapted the adult sleeves pattern to the toddle one, I changed the edge to ruffles & I really like how it frame her face & make her look like flower but I somehow thinks that the ruffles on the sleeves were overkill. So aft I finished the sleeves I was trying to weave in all ends & when I slip my hand in to turn the sleeves inside out, it just doesn’t feel right. If it feels scratchy on my old beat up arms, imagine how it’ll feel on a baby’s skin, but I love it so much I can’t bring myself to unravel it! Argh! I decided to remake that sweater with better yarns & maybe skip the ruffles on the sleeves but I’m not unraveling this until the 2nd sweater is done, she can wear it over her other comfy long sleeves just like the way she did on the last post lol.

Abagail Sweater

I saved the pattern but now I can’t find where I got it from, the only lead I have was it’s from Kay Squared Designs, I googled it but I still can’t find it, sorry author. If any1 know which site this pattern is from please don’t hesitate to let me know or comment it here, thx.

I finished this in June, knitted it because I fell in love with the lace pattern, & I never knit lace before so it’s a good piece to try.
I can’t seems to get a better picture then this, the others are either blurry or she moved.
Surprisingly, I didn’t change anything in the pattern, the only difference is mine is blue top instead of all purple. It’s not quite finished coz there’s suppose to be a button & tab where the blue is but I can’t seems to find the button that I like & suit this sweater so it was put on hold, I think I’ll just add 2 or 4 I-cords & make it a tied sweater instead. The only thing I hate about it is the part where the joining of the yarn is right under the arm, it’s all loose & sloppy but I don’t know how to fix it so I left it at that.

Other then the underarm part, this piece is absolutely gorgeous.

When I saw this pattern, I was like this is gota be a great layer addition for her! At that moment I had the unfinished black & white leg warmer sitting on my desk, I figured that since I didn’t like the way it formed when I was knitting the legwarmer, might as well tear it apart & make this shrug instead.
At the time when I took the pictures, I personally think it actually looks pretty cute & the randomness is actually quite nice, but when I put it on her, it just doesn’t look right, the 1st thought was, oh my gosh, it looks like it’s already dirtied before I put it on her, & even though its black & white it doesn’t seems to match anything she has in her massive wardrobe, it looks so bad that I didn’t even feel like taking a picture of her wearing it. But now that I’m looking at it again, it still looks cute, maybe I should find a solid black or white dress & try it again. We’ll see.

When I saw this, I immediately thought of the Red Heart yarn that I’ve bought on impulse & have no clue what to do with it so it’s left in my stash untouched. It’s almost the same color & I really like the look of the garment so I was very excited to knit it. I knitted a small swatch to make sure I have the right gauge or close to it & it came out just a wee bit larger so I’m like what the heck, she’ll grow into it. When I finished the top portion right before the lace part, I test it on Arieanna & it came out WAY too big! BUMMER! I can’t describe how dishearten it is, I’m wavering on whether to continue knitting or tear it apart till I saw Jen, hummmm…. She could probly squeeze in it, tried it on her & it actually fits! YAY! Well maybe alil snug but she looks cute in it hehe.

The pattern called for a longer lace bottom but Jen wants it short so short it is, instead of sewing the flat buttons on it, I loosely thread it with faux pearls so it’ll have some gives.

This was taking w/o flash to better show the lace.

Not what I expected but I likey. I think it looks really good on Jen.

I’ve made this for Bianca’s newborn girl Jaylyn, I mentioned about her earlier in June here.

The cute hat’s from Classic Elite Yarns, I made it coz its soooo cute & also to learn baby cables, surprise to say, it was actually pretty easy to make. I like it sooooo much I made another 1 in purple for Arieanna which was shown in previous post. The sleep sack however, burnt my brain alil, it was adapted from Zodiac, the same pattern I attempted b4 & failed, mentioned here. The stitch counts & body construction is the same but instead of stockinette stitches, I changed it to baby cables to match the hat, I also changed the straps to be detachable coz aft I finished the same way as the pattern, the heck hole looks really tight, I can’t even fit through Arieanna’s head so that explains the changes.
One thing I learned from this project, even though rib is more stretchy then stockinette, it’s actually narrower with the same stitch counts when unstretched, which explains the odd length of the piece, my saving grace was its very stretchy so it still works, enough to convince me not to tear it apart lol.
Baby Cocoon
Another gift for Russ’s friend Shannon’s newborn boy Ryan, this is like a swaddler w/o the fuss. Shannon! We need to meet up!!! Ryan’s gona grow out of it soon! Lol I saw a lot of these types on Etsy but they are mostly for photographic purposes, they cost between $50 to I think $100, waaaaaay over my budget, some of they are very fuzzy, not good for babies as they can ingest the loose fibers. I decided that its probly time to create my own design so yay! My 1st pattern! Honestly speaking, its actually pretty easy to knit up, what makes mine unique was the hood (or so I think since I’ve never seen any like it), the top of the piece was weaves with ribbon to create the hood, perfect for shielding your precious newborn from nature’s harsh elements.
As the baby grow, the ribbon can be removed & viola, the hood becomes a collar allowing more space.

I think it’s pretty good considering it’s my 1st design, pretty cool too.

Jumper Cable Dress
*Edited: I found the original site

I made this for Ashlynne’s 1st birthday, it’s in September but sadly it’s still with me, was suppose to give it to her at her party but Arieanna was really cranky the whole day so we decided that it’ll be a huge mistake to take her there, or anywhere so here’s the dress, still sitting sadly on my shelf. I hope I can give it to her soon or she’ll grow out of it, then it’ll be another waste gift :’( *sob*

Other then the change in colors I actually knitted it the way the pattern goes, after I cast off & was about to weave in the ends, I wondered how it’ll look on Arieanna so I put it on her but cheese & crackers! The head doesn’t fit! AGAIN! It’s a good thing I decided to test wear it on Arieanna or I’m gona cry if I give it to Ashlynne & found out that it doesn’t fit her, her head is about the same size as Arieanna’s so needless to say I gota rip it apart to redo it. So while I was tugging with vengeance till the beginning of the bodice, I was thinking on how to change it in a way to make it fit. Sarah saw the pile of “instant noodle” by me & shook her head… smirking… lol. Well in order to not rip everything apart, the only way is to enlarge the neck hole, & to do that, I made the slit at the back longer.

Not exactly perfect but it works.
Throughout this project, the only problem I can’t seem to fix is the ladder in-between the color change.

As u can see from the photo where I circle, the arrows are to point out a few the exact spots, the white yarn right b4 the change to red is longer than other stitches, I tried pulling tighter but it doesn’t seems to work. It’s the same from top to bottom & it’s only on the right side if the work on the front & the back pieces. I really don’t know what else to do, any suggestions?
Baby Headband
This one was a mindless knitting project I decided to make when I saw Arieanna’s bangs covering her eyes all the time & she refuse to keep the clip on, I have no idea why I thought at that time that she would keep this headband on but well, I just grab the yarn & needles within reach & started measuring & knitting. I didn’t write the pattern down, stupid me I know but I’m gona remake another 1, hopefully a better looking 1 & by then I’ll hopefully remember to write the pattern down lol.
Lil' Devil Baby Hat

When I found this pattern, I told myself I must make this, even though it was drawn out on the author’s site, it’s just so irresistible! Overall it’s pretty easy, the only part that took me awhile is the horn but aft picking up the necessary amount of stitches & knitted a couple of rows, it got easy. THIS IS JUST ADORABLE! Enough reason to knit it up for her LOL!

That’s it for now.

Happy Holidays every1!
